LP Lucy and the Rats - s/t (Stardumb Records, Surfin' Ki Records, Monster Zero. 2018)

Lucy came to London and soon she recruited three rats from Spain. So the Spazzy started jamming with members of bands like Thee Tumbitas and Los Perros. They recorded two 7" and finally their first album has been launched this year by three of the most popular pop-punk record labels: Stardumb, Surfin' Ki and Monster Zero.

This LP contains 10 tracks sung by Lucy's sweetest voice which will make you want to listen more and more. Get ready to hear catchy melodies influenced by 50s and 60s pop, surfey guitars and power-pop background.

Special mention to the artwork. It's not just nice to see lovely Lucy portrayed like a Suzy Quattro in the 70s, but I love the simplicity of this teenage/naïf cover!

Recorded in Denia, Spain and produced by Johnny Casino and Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Dirtbombs).

Teenbeat #2. "Who's Sam Cooke?"

The Mummies are coming to London very soon! And we went to see Guitar Wolf once again last week. This is the tracklist for my second podcast in Mixcloud:

• 1Bluejean Bop by Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps
• 2Jet Generation by Guitar Wolf
• 3Summertime Blues by Guitar Wolf
• 4The Ballad of Iron Eyes Cody by The Mummies
• 5Jezabel by The Mummies
• 6Shake by Sam Cooke
• 7Shake by Eddie and The Hot Rods
• 8That's What You're Doing To Me by Nolan Strong & The Diablos
• 9Guitar Child by Glen Campbell

I would like to add something about the last track, Guitar Child by Glen Campbell. And the thing is I haven't found any evidence about if Glen Campbell did record this song. This is the first track in a Sharon Sheeley compilation, but I have only found this song played and recorded by Duane Eddy. If anyone knows, leave a comment please!
